High today 102.
High tomorrow 103
That's like Equator Hot.
Ridiculous.
Stupid to talk about the heat. But that's what people do.
Whoa, it's so hot.
People also like to tell others when they have a headache.
Or when they can't sleep.
Why is that?
I thought about that last night at 1:30 when I couldn't sleep.
Dallas last night was good.
J. R. was conniving as ever.
And his eyebrows should have their own zip code.
And John Ross... whew ... the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Ridiculous TV I know....
But, like I said, it's a nice break from shows about gators and sasquatches....
OK, have a good day, people.

summa'
It's a pleasant morning...
But it won't last for long....
This is the lamest of lame posts.
But I know you don't really want to hear me talk about how my job is going well even though I haven't mastered how to get in the back door of the building.
It's also stupid to admit that I'm excited to watch Dallas tonight. Yeah....

Hot.
Thermostat wars. Office probs
One thermostat is in the central file room. And it controls one side of the hallway.
H likes to set this on 80. EIGHTY. Really?
The other thermostat is in D's office. And it controls the other side of the hallway - which is the side my office is on.
Well, D also likes things a bit ... shall we say ... toasty. And he likes to set the thermostat on 77. One reason for this is because he has a self-proclaimed issue with the numbers 4 and 7. Thus, the 77.
Personally, I think 77 is just a tad too warm. I think he also needs some iron in his diet. Or a coat for his office.
72 is my preference.
But, in an effort for office peace and to appease D and his number hang ups, I set it on 74.
And then things cool down a little bit for a little bit. And I am happy.
And then, before I know it, D has pushed it back up to 77. And, it starts heating up again. And I am hot and irritable.
And, H has pushed the other thermostat back up to 78. Sometimes 80. EIGHTY.
Should I really have sweat forming on my brow while I just sit at my desk and TYPE? I think not.
Humph.
I know I probably sound like the overweight middle age woman "IT'S HOT IN HERE!!!"
But, for the love, 77 is too hot.
Yesterday I figured I'd just start taking my clothes off and then they would all be like My eyes! My eyes! Whoaaaaa OK already let's turn the air down.
But I figured a simpler solution would be better received. So yesterday I just went bought a little fan for my desk. And it's described as the "The Vornado flippi: the personal circulator with personality" Kind of like me... It's cute and it's little and it's red. I love him.
The end.

Ain't nothing but a thing
It got reeeeeal hot in our house.
And we determined that our air conditioner was acting up.
Again.
If you will recall, this air conditioner is only one year old. And it required selling one of the Captain's kidneys to pay for it. Because did you know a new air conditioner costs $215,107,687?
But, apparently, there was a small leak in the outside thing which caused a lot of water to drain out of the inside upstairs thing and run down into the other thing.
And it's never good when the Captain comes downstairs out of the attic and says there is water running out of the thing down into the other thing.
And when the Air Conditioner Man attempted to fix the small leak in the outside thing, it sprung a larger leak in the other outside thing.
And I have no idea how or why there is water involved in an air conditioner anyway. Because it's air. That's cold. But apparently there is water in there somewhere. And I am apparently not good with science. Or physics. Or whatever that concept would involve. I really don't get that.
And I don't understand how a small leak in the outside thing has anything to do with the inside upstairs thing. But it does. So they say.
But all I know is there is no water leaking out of any of my things.
And we have self-regulated air once again.
Cool.
All is right with the world.

Hot. Cool.
It's hot, y'all.
And by hot, I mean 100+ degrees.
Factor in the humidity and the heat index is somewhere near 483.
Ridiculous.
The only thing cool is this picture of Cooper at his golf clinic yesterday.
Coolio.
And speaking of volleyball, it started back yesterday. Nothing like a 4-hour volleyball practice to put a screeching halt to Jordan's wild summer activities.
Alright, people.

Stuff
Confession: I really don't care that Meredith Viera is leaving the Today Show. I also didn't care that Oprah ended her show. I didn't care when Katie Whatshername left either. Am I the only one? Doesn't really change my life any. I'm not all sad. I'm just like....whatever. Maybe the straw on all that was when they did a little spot about the challenges Meredith has being a "working mom". Hahahahahahaha. I laughed all the way to work to volleyball practice to the church devo to the grocery store to the birthday party about that.
In other news, Jordan had an unexpected root canal yesterday -- just a little tooth problem that she has had for a year. She's fine. I gave her some drugs and sent her to bed. The end.
And finally, the high temp today is 97. Yummy. It's hot people.
Since I don't really have anything else to talk about today and it's so stinking hot, I will leave you with this little gem. It's also yummy. And hot.

Nine.
So the Coopster turns nine today. NINE. Can't. Stand. It.
He's so excited.
He's getting a new bicycle. That I may or may not have gotten yesterday for ONE CENT. That's how it rang up. And the gal didn't want to mess with calling the manager and doing all that cash register stuff. So she sold us the $100 bike for ONE CENT. Wooop!!
For those keeping score at home, he has finished all 96 episodes of Mindfreak. Whew. That's a lot of illusions people.
For those of you worried about his next Netflix endeavor (JuJu), he's tackling four seasons of Drake & Josh and three seasons of Man vs. Food. Guess those are a little more tolerable.
The rest of the weekend featured...
...Jordan and a most active social calendar and the Mom Taxi in high gear.
...our air conditioner being out Friday and Saturday. Fixed now. Thank the high heavens.
...lots and lots and lots of Mario Kart. I always finish 12th. Out of 12. At least I'm consistent.
...some hot, hot, hot temps.
Guess the air is still out at work.
Grabbing a fan and heading that way.
Peace and love.

Farewell Summer
For all practical purposes, today is the last day of summer. Blah.
Cooper starts back to school on Monday. Jordan starts Tuesday.
Let's take a little look-back at Summer 2010...
It was HOT. It was very, VERY hot. It was MAGMA hot. In fact, it's STILL HOT. It's been "Send Hate Mail to the Weatherman" Hot. I know. Whiny whiny whiny. But good grief. (I just heard The Weatherman call 97 and 95 degree days next week a "cooling trend". Ri.Dic.U.Lous.)
For Jordan, it was the summer of youth group stuff, sleeping late, volleyball practice, and oodles of dental work.
For Cooper, the summer brought lots of SpongeBob, Phineas & Ferb, fort-building, car-playing, and magic show obsessing.
It was the summer of the smoothie.
And the TV show Bones. (Props to Connie!)
It had its share of tragedy and sadness. But we covered that yesterday and I'm not going back there today.
I did a lot of driving. If there were a Mom badge for Kid Carting, I have earned it. In spades. Connie and I managed to coordinate drop off and pick up schedules for four kids with church stuff, volleyball practices and football practices and other miscellaneous social events. Multiple kids. Multiple locations. Excel spreadsheets and highlighters involved. But we managed. {HIGH FIVE}
It was also the Summer of the Cash Outflow. A new air conditioner. Jordan's oral surgery and braces. Lots of youth group camps. Her trip to Houston. And of course the final whammy with the purchase of school supplies and uniforms. Cha-$$$-Ching.
And now, Summer 2010 is coming to a close. It was (kind of) lazy. It was (definitely) crazy. But it's riding off into the (HOT) sunset....
Goodbye Summer. You served us well. See you next year.
Double check your school supplies this weekend people. School bell rings next week!
Hydrate and have a good weekend. Muuuuuuah!

The one where I complain about the heat. Again.
Me: Nip it.
(photo of toilet paper attached to the email)
The Weatherman: Once again...Don't hate the player. Hate the game.
Me: Excessive heat makes me cranky and makes me sweat on parts of my body that shouldn't even sweat and it makes my fingers swell and it does wonky things to my hair. Grrrrrrr. Seriously. I'll scream if you use the words "one hundred" again.
The Weatherman: Cue the scream.
Me: And I'm sick of your big blue H!
The Weatherman: So the heat is turning that Pollyanna attitude of yours into Sour Sally.
Me: It is ridiculous. The end.
Mercy people.
Somebody bring me a popsicle.
Peace out.

Weekend over. Week begins.
The weekend is over.
Connie and I survived twelve hours of volleyball on Saturday. It was a fun, but very long, day. Our girls played well. Connie and I discovered that an excessive amount of time sitting on high school gym bleachers leads to numb booties and the early stages of spinal fusion of the L4 and L5.
This week is the last week of summer for my peeps. It features two dental appointments, one orthodontic appointment, a hair cut, one trip to the uniform store, a search for notebook dividers and book covers, five volleyball practices, three football practices, and the completion of summer reading.
Heat is back in the 100's this week. Grrrrr.
I am tired. That is all.

The heat is on.
When the weather gets wonky, I am forced to harrass my friend and favorite weatherman.....
Me: Seriously. The heat. Do something.
Him: Working on it. Should have a fix by October.
Me: And please don't use the words "One Hundred". Oh - and nothing that ends in "-teen". That should cover it. Thanks.
Him: Got it.
That's when I caught his 5:00 pm forecast.
And saw this.
So I was forced to send yet ANOTHER email....
Me: Ummmmm, EXCUSE ME.... I just saw your forecast. Cut it out. Or I'll roll your yard.
Him: The breeze from the toilet paper flying through the air will be nice.
Me: (cue sarcastic mocking voice): The breeze from the toilet paper flying through the air will be nice.
Grrrrrrrr.
I told Connie I was tired of all this one hundred degree nonsense and I was going to roll The Weatherman's yard. She said it was too hot outside and wouldn't come with me.
With a high today of 102 and a heat index of 640 (OK, OK, that's a bit of an exaggeration. I get sassy when I'm hot. The heat index today is actually closer to 120), I'm forced to think about colder times. Like this.

I survived.
I made it through the weekend and lived to tell about it.
I made it through the Justin Bieber concert. And in case you haven't been at a concert full of 20,000 high-pitched squealing and screaming pre-teen girls, you just haven't lived. And you also still have full use of your ear drums.
I tried to get out of it.
I bribed everybody I saw. I offered to trade jobs with our waiter at dinner, the restaurant manager, a couple in the restaurant parking lot, the parking lot attendant, the security guy at the arena, the gal at the will call window at the arena....everybody I saw. I offered to do their job for the rest of the night if they would take Jordan and her friend to the show. No takers. Nobody even considered it. Not even the waiter -- who I offered not only to work his Saturday night shift, but to also pick up his Sunday shift, do his laundry for a week, and make five casseroles. Nope. No way.
Oh it was fine. It was fun I guess. In a loud, screaming kind of way. I enjoyed watching all the teeny-boppers who like him just as much as his music. And let's just say, it's a good thing he's cute. I was kind of over it when he got in a heart-shaped crane and floated across the audience. {cue groans}. But if Shawn Cassidy had done that when I was 13, I would have screamed my head off too.
In other news, I am happy to report that school supplies have been purchased. I think we have everything -- including the quadrangle something or other graph paper -- also known as notebook paper with little squares on it instead of lines. Well, we may still be in need of some book covers. Oh - and uniforms. Still have to get those. I do think the school administration will frown on kids wearing pajamas or birthday suits....
Finally, the heat this week is going to be beyond brutal. We are under an Excessive Heat Warning. Whatever that is. I think that means the high's are in the 100's and the heat indexes (indices?) are in the 300's. Coop has football practice this week (so does Nephew T). And I am a little bit concerned all this hotness. I am looking today for a 38,000 gallon water jug.
Stay cool people. Hydrate.
PS - Thank you for continuing to remember the LaVelle family. The memorial service on Saturday was very difficult. But an amazing testimony to that family -- over 1,000 people were at the service. Thanks for your prayers too for Nick. He is continuing his treatments for his brain tumor. There are so many people out there whose hearts are hurting....

Guess it's two out of three
Four weeks until school starts.
Say it ain't so!
I'm in total denial about all that.
I like the lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer.
We've had all that.
Lazy. Crazy. Hazy.
Now the crazy cranks up and the lazy ratchets down.
And the hazy just hangs around no matter what's going on.
Blah.
Jordan is full swing in daily volleyball practice.
And Cooper starts football next week. Practice three days a week.
Yes, he's playing football this year.
Tackle football. Tackle.
That's another story for another day.
Anyway, there's a lot of drop off, pick up, drop off, pick up.....
Let's see...what else do we have to cram into these last four weeks....
Jordan has oral surgery next week to get four teeth pulled followed by three appointments for braces. Erg.
Cooper needs to get a cavity filled. Mom guilt.
School supplies. School uniforms. That's another $57,209.
Hey Jordan - how's that summer reading coming?!
Oh blah.....
I just wanna' stick with the lazy.
And forget the crazy.
And the hazy.
Cause the high today is 296 degrees. And The Weatherman actually just used the word "scorcher".
Alrighty people. Wishing you lazy with no crazy.
Peace out.
P.S. Nick starts radiation and chemo today. Daily treatments for seven weeks. Hope you'll continue to pray for him. His CaringBridge page is right here.

Thinkin' about the past
Another day. Another heat advisory.
Blah blah blah.
I will think of cooler times. Colder days.
Six months ago.
When I was freezing my patootie off.
In other news, Jordan comes home today! Hooray!
And finally, please continue to pray for Nick. They have set up a Caring Bridge site and you can check it out right here. There is also a "Praying for Nick Brumfield" group thing on Facebook if that's more up your alley. Connie and I were talking yesterday about how so many of you - who don't even know him - and who really don't even "know" us - were praying for him. And that's just awesome.
OK people. I'm outta' here.
The Captain got up early this morning for some reason. And, instead of watching news and weather and sports recaps and such (which is what I do when I am up by myself), he has chosen to watch some scary wolf movie. Ummmm, it's a bit early for that nonsense. So I'm headed to work.
Have a happy day!

H-O-T
Dear Weatherman:
It's. Hot.
Surely it gets a little old saying that over and over again.
Temperature 97. Heat index 538.
The Triple H.
Hazy. Hot. Humid.
Blah blah blah.
Need a few more words to use to describe the heat?
Thought I would help you out a little.
It's baking, blazing, blistering, boiling, broiling, burning, feverish, fiery, flaming, heated, humid, like an oven, on fire, ovenlike, parching, piping, roasting, scalding, scorching, searing, sizzling, smoking, steaming, stuffy, sultry, summery, sweltering, sweltry, tropic, tropical, very warm.
You're welcome.
Angie

It's hot, that's not a pen, and that's no place for water.
The weekend. She was hot.
Like 96 degrees and 358 degree heat index.
Major. Hot.
The Captain, Cooper and I went to the St. Jude Classic golf tourny Saturday morning. We had a good time. Until we all melted.
(Jordan opted to skip the tourny and sleep til noon in her air conditioned room.)
Besides seeing all the professional golfers up close and personal, the highlight of our little golf outing was when we were sitting at the first tee and Cooper grabbed *something* out of my purse (Let's just say it wasn't a pen, or lipstick, or such item) and held it up and waved it around and said "What's this? And why did you bring it to the golf tournament?" Alrighty then.
The rest of the weekend featured more of my favorite things including reading, napping, and watching college baseball.
Another teeny tiny moment of weekend panic happened yesterday afternoon was when I was laying on my bed doing all three of those above mentioned favorite activities and I heard water running down the inside of the wall. Hmmmm. Well, that didn't sound right. Sure enough, the brand new $725,194 air conditioner furnace thing upstairs in the attic was leaking water everywhere and it had filled up the pan thing and overflowed to the pipe thing and was overflowing to the other pipe thing outside. The Air Conditioner Fixer Man came over and fixed it. Some pipe drainy thing was blocked by some other thing. Thank goodness. I would have had my second melt down of the weekend.
I know you are all so jealous of my exciting weekends.
In the meantime, it's still hot. Hydrate people. And have a good day.
