Spring can't be far behind

Happy Fall Y'all

Yesterday was the first day of Fall. Although all the rain we've had makes it seem like spring. Oh, and the muggy temps make it feel like summer. But officially, it is Fall.

I love, love, love this season.

I did put some fallish flowers in the basket on my front door last weekend. That has been the extent of my welcome to Fall. Welcome Fall! Here are some pretty orange & yellow flowers and some golden leafy things with a few fake acorns stuck in there too for good measure. Maybe this weekend I'll drag all my fall decorations out. Then again, maybe I won't. Who really knows. It's too early to commit to weekend plans. Other than football. I will always commit to football. Always.

Sorry - I digress. What were we talking about? Oh yes. Fall. Hello Fall. You have shown up on the calendar. But you have not shown up outside.

Here are some of my favorite things about Fall...We'll call this Angie's Favorite Things About Fall. With Bullets.

  • watching the leaves change colors
  • crisp morning temps
  • sweaters
  • long afternoon shadows
  • pumpkins
  • fall colors
  • scarves
  • football
  • hoodies
  • soups & chili
  • scarves - yes I mentioned them twice because they are worthy to be praised
So, even though the temps are in the mid-80's and the rain is still in the forecast UNTIL SATURDAY. (Seriously Weatherman, enough already.), we can pretend it's fall. I might even turn my A/C down a little bit and put some chili on the stove.

In the meantime, you can find me on the bleachers in some high school gym watching a volleyball game.....

I seem to have misplaced July

What happened to the summer?

June was so long and slow. Then I woke up and it was August. What happened?!? Seriously. What happened to July? Where did the summer go?!!?! We have just a few precious days left before the kids start school. Summer is over.

Let's take a moment to remember it.....

I drove Jordan to church for youth group stuff no less than 391,927 times. Not complaining here at all, because she has had a WONDERFUL summer getting plugged in and staying busy. I'm very thankful. But wowie. I made a lot of trips to and from church.

I have seen enough episodes of Scooby Doo, SpongeBob Squarepants and Phineas & Ferb to last about 3 years. (Speaking of SpongeBob....why does he live in a pineapple under the sea? Am I the only one that thinks that is stupid? Besides the fact that it's a show about a SPONGE??? Seriously. I don't get it.)

I have heard enough Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus to last another 3 years. Yes, you belong with me. And yes, it's the climb. OK. I got it. Move along girls.

Cooper discovered golf. And became obsessed.

Jordan discovered Facebook. And became obsessed.

We had our share of sunburn, mosquito bites, freeze pops and trips to Dairy Queen.

We played Uno & Blink & lots of Wii.

Jordan stayed up VERY late every night and slept VERY late every morning. Sister's got her a rude awakening coming her way in a few days.

Jordan discovered the joys of that thing called SUMMER READING. Hardy-har-har.

It was lazy. It was crazy. It was wonderful.

And it's over. Let us all stop for a moment of silence.

Goodbye summer. You served us well. See you next year.

Mayday Mayday Mayday

May is busy.

May is graduation events to attend and gifts to purchase.

May is the time when the kids uniforms are too short, too tight, too gaping, too everything. But too close to the end of the school year to do anything about it.

May is bridal showers and wedding presents.

May is the time when the kids start revolting against bed time.

May is end of the year parties and teacher gifts.

May is the time when Cooper asks for new crayons and markers because his have run out. Surely there are two more weeks of color in those things.

May is the time for summer camp registrations and fees.

May is the time when the kids are totally over spelling words and science study guides. And so is their mother.

May is busy.

Cool your jingle jets people

I love all things Christmas. I love decorating my house for Christmas. And I can't wait to get started. BUT, I won't do this until the day after Thanksgiving. I've noticed many houses already have their trees and outdoor decorations up. And we all know that the stores have had their Christmas items displayed since early September. Remember?

But what about Thanksgiving and fall? It almost gets the shaft. And poor Halloween. I went to the Hobby Lobby the week before Halloween, and they had already consolidated their stuff into one small shelf and had slashed it 75% off. Poor Halloween. It never had a chance. I ran in there last night and all the fall decorations are already 80% off. And they were already playing Christmas music in the store.

I still enjoy the fall season. And I like still being able to have my pumpkins and pilgrims out in my house. For at least one more week....

What about you?

Happy Fall Y'all!

A little Monday Morning Quarterback...

  • Arkansas got their Razorback booties handed to them. Not looking good for my Hogs.
  • Memphis got a win! Yea!
  • Best game of the day was the LSU-Auburn game. Some great football there.
  • Poor Tennessee....
  • And Vanderbilt is 5-0?!?!?
Today is the first day of fall. I love fall and all the things that come with it. Here are some things I like about fall:

  • watching the leaves change colors
  • crisp morning temperatures
  • soups and chili
  • long afternoon shadows
  • pumpkins
  • beautiful fall colors
  • college football
  • sweaters

The Bloggie Doggie is waiting for Fall to arrive. OK, so I really took this last week and he was actually watching the kids play in the front yard. Just play along...

Even Google is welcoming fall...

How about you people? What do you like about fall?

Happy Fall Y'all!

I know that fall hasn't officially arrived and neither have the cooler temps, but over the last few days, I've been trying to get my fall decorations out. I don't have that much stuff, but it just takes awhile for me to find just the right place for my tre. So I thought I'd give you a little lookey look...

Remember when I got the metal planter thing and the big pumpkins at the Wally? Voila!

I wish I had taken a 'before' picture of this candlestick. I found it on a clearance end cap at Target. It was very light, almost unfinished, wood. And it was $2.75! Nothing a little black spray paint can't turn into a perfect little treasure...And another Wally pumpkin....I made the "Fall" picture on the computer...

I had some shells in this bowl, but replaced summer with a little fall. The little pumpkins and leaves came from that expensive home decor mecca, the Dollar Tree.

Oh look! More Dollar Tree pumpkins and leaves....

Here's a pic of the little pumpkins. Cooper said "One of the bags you got has rotten pumpkins in it."

I got these leaves and glass pumpkins at the Dollar Tree too. I had gone to the Hobby Lobby and they had some of the same stuff for three and four times the price. I'm happy spending the dollar...(These pumpkins really are pretty. My poor photography doesn't do them justice.)

Speaking of non-photographic justice, the two big white pumpkins are very pretty. I heart those white pumpkins. I think I got those at Target one year on clearance. The "Boo" picture used to be a brown framed mirror. And once again, a little spray paint, some work on the ol' computer and a 'spooky' font....there ya' go.

The Captain got these Trick or Treat pumpkins for me one year at the Germantown Festival. Aren't they cute?

Well people, that wraps up the Fall Tour. I love the change of the seasons. And I love fall. I love decorating my home in a way that embraces the seasons that we are celebrating. It's important to me to make our home a comfortable place for my family....a soft place to land.

But it's barely September...

I ran by Hobby Lobby yesterday in search of some pumpkins and fall leaves for a little home decorating. And this is what I saw.....
