Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

What's your favorite Dr. Seuss book?

I like "Green Eggs & Ham" and "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish".

Boo!

Happy Halloween! I hope you have your costumes and your peeps' costumes all ready for tonight. We are having trunk 'n treat at church. Jordan will be transformed into a "dirty clothes basket". Cooper is a vampire. (I'm all about creative and cheap costumes. No $40 costumes for my kids...) I am going as "Frazzled Working Mother" which I have been for the last several years. I love that because I really don't have to do anything to get ready. Just show up. And hey, I'm in costume! In keeping with tradition, the Captain will be dressed as a police officer. It's getting kind of old, but man, it just looks so darn authentic. Weather here looks like it will be a treat (Get it? TREAT!?) so it should be a great day.

I have been trying to finish up a few last projects with my fall decorating. Especially since it was decided last week that I will be having Thanksgiving at my house. So after making a few more trips to the Hob Lob, and purchasing some fall picks (already 50% off - sweet!), I think I'm finished.

I made this wreath for my door....

This cornucopia (or as Cooper calls it "HORNucopia).....

And finished off this basket thing....

Here's the Bloggie Doggie looking out the window while I was taking a picture of the wreath....

Gotta' love the Google...I heart these things.

Be safe tonight and don't overload on the sugar. Have a Happy Halloween people! Here's hoping you don't get a bucket full of dum-dums....

Flashback Friday

Today's Flashback Friday picture features the Bloggie Doggie with one of his favorite puppy toys. Mr. Quackers. Mr. Quackers was, obviously, a stuffed mallard duck that actually had a quacker thing in it and he would quack when the Bloggie Doggie would chew on it. Slowly but surely, Mr. Q. started falling apart, first the quacker sound, then the stuffing, then his feet. Eventually Mr. Quackers was just flat, empty wings. It was a slow and painful death for the ol' duck. And finally, he went to the big duck pond in the sky. But Mr. Quackers holds a special place in the Bloggie Doggie's heart. He LOVED Mr. Quackers. RIP Mr. Quackers. We miss you. (One of the kids must have been sick when I took this picture, because the couch has sheets on it. i.e. The Sick Bed as they call it)

A little hii-yaaa from Google today as they salute martial arts:

I caught women's diving and track and field last night, but fell asleep before the men's beach volleyball game. There are only 3 more days of Olympics, one of those is the closing ceremonies. I will miss it for sure next week. But I have also missed my sleep....

...and my reading time. It's taken me weeks to get through this book I'm reading. And it's a great one (I recommend it), but my free time has gone to watching the Olympics.

It's Friday people! Say HOORAY!!!

Stayin' awake for the U. S. of A.

Who stayed up to watch the US women win the gold in beach volleyball!? Very exciting - they are so good. They're cute too - it was fun to see how excited they were after their win. They even gave a shout out to the Prez. I did NOT stay up to watch the women win the semi in the regular court volleyball. I believe their game started at 1am central time. Ummm, no thanks. Would love to see it, but just not possible. They play the winner of the Brazil-China match on Saturday. But I'm not sure when it's going to be aired - Friday night maybe? Uncertainty here people. I really, really REALLY love the Olympics, but my sleep is suffering. Killing me. The beach v'ball game didn't BEGIN until 10pm. Yawn.........

Speaking of volleyball, both Jordan and Niece M. made their teams! Hooray for them!! (And Nephew T. has earned yet another skull and crossbone.) Nice job peeps. I'm proud of all of them!!

While the Captain is a professed fan of the Me and My Good Life blog, he does not love it enough to read it on a DAILY basis. This has been known to hurt the Bloggie Doggie's feelings very much. So after I have nagged and nagged about his not reading my blog when he does catch up on all this blah blah blah nonsense and ramblings all these thrilling posts and exciting current event updates, the Bloggie Doggie is very excited. See? Look at the excitement just radiating from his cute puppy face. And, even though I cut it off in the picture, I'm certain his tail was wagging in pure joy.

More pushups for me this morning. I'm working back through week 3. I also did a "Stretch Max" show. I don't like this girl as much as the girl on my regular "In Shape" show. This chick drives me a bit nuts because she prefaces every move with "Now what you're going to do is....". She says that before Every. Single. Move. Quite annoying.

Google is taking it to the high jump today.

We've got two more days before the weekend. Hang in there people. Peace. Out.

Phelps is Phabulous

Another amazing night of swimming by Michael Phelps. Did you watch it? He won his 10th & 11th gold medals last night making him the greatest athlete in Olympic history. Ever. He's the Golden Boy. This is a good article that sums it up. Says he got a text from a friend before his meet that said "Time to be the best ever." Kind of gives me chills to read that. He still set a world record even though his goggles were full of water. I heard Bob Costas say last night something like, "It's so easy for him; he can even do it with his eyes closed." He's just awesome. Even Kobe Bryant and LeBron James went to see him swim. Want to see a Phelps tracker? This neato little chart compares Phelps to Mark Spitz.

Our other gold turned to silver. The poor women's gymnastics team....that was quite sad. And my heart was breaking for the girl that fell off the beam and then later fell right on her hiney. There was some talk about the Chinese team being underage. Apparently China has provided proof that their girls are all at least 16. But did you notice one of the girls was missing a tooth? Sixteen??? Ummmmm, not.

I am LOVING watching the Olympics, but man oh man is it ever messing with my sleep. I do *not* stay up this late. Even on the weekends. And these 11:00pm and 11:30pm bedtimes are not working with my 4:00am alarm clock...It's killing me. But it is my patriotic duty to stay up and root for the good ol' U. S. of A. I did consider sleeping in this morning, but got up before I could totally convince myself. A little pilates for me. (I have really grown to love this pilates stuff.) Off day for the pushups.

My sincerest blogger apologies for not updating you people yesterday about Cooper and The Belt Situation. I know there were hundreds of you who stayed up even later than the end of the televised Olympics just refreshing your browser over and over in hopes that I would post an update on his day. So sorry to leave you hanging. He had a very successful day and was a frequent visitor to the bathroom. I did find 2 new, hopefully easier to operate, belts. So, it appears that we are closing the chapter of The Belt Situation.

I asked him last night to tell me one neato thing that happened at school. Funny how I received the exact answer I got on Monday. "Recess was awesome." Jordan just "loves 6th grade so much" and has begun every sentence with "Guess what?!"

Isn't this little guy cute?! I don't need to remind you how much I love those Google Guys.

The kids put up their little tent the other day to watch movies and hang out. The Bloggie Doggie loved it!! Do you know why? Because it's a PUP tent!!! It appears that he has claimed it as his own...

Enjoy this less than 90 degrees day people. It looks like it's gonna' be a nice one.

Phelps is Phantastic

I continue to be amazed by Michael Phelps. He is just so awesome to watch isn't he? He won his 9th gold yesterday which ties him with 4 other Olympiads (one of which is Mark Spitz) for the most Olympic medals in history. I heard last night that he is supposed to eat between 8,000 and 10,000 calories a day. Yet, he still weighs only 195. Here's a great little article that breaks down each of his swimming strokes.

We are all just totally digging the Olympics. Cooper was actually watching France vs. Korea in boxing last night. I am really enjoying the swimming this year - maybe more than I have before. I also am anxious to see the track and field.

I have begun Week 3 in the Hundred Push Up Challenge. I had to retest at the end of week 2. I'm proud to tell you people that I completed 16 pushups! If you will recall, my initial test resulted in 10 pushups. So there is some improvement there. And, the Captain actually said Sunday that he 'noticed some definition in my triceps'. Wowie! The week's schedule looks like this:

Week 3
Day 1: 15, 12, 12, 10, 15
Day 2: 16, 14, 14, 12, 15
Day 3: 20, 15, 15, 12, 16

It looks most intimidating don't you think people? I completed Day 1 this morning. I also did my In Shape show which was Pilates and Yoga. I have begun to really like the pilates, but the yoga is not for me. There are all kinds of odd moves and they each have names. One of them is called "upward facing dog" and "downward facing dog". Which look like this:

The 'dog poses' are, of course, the Bloggie Doggie's favorite poses. He gives them his own individual spin, but they look something like this:

And, for today's Google post......I heart those Google people I tell you.....I'm obsessed with these little things.....

And, for those of you who do not live in Jonasville, I must remind you that the brand new Jonas Brothers CD is released today! Jordan has been waiting for this day.....She is certain that there will be a line outside Target this morning of people waiting to purchase this little item and it will be extremely difficult to find one. I am pretty certain I will be able to accomplish this mission with no trouble.

The kids (and their mother) did survive the first day of school. Jordan came home talking nonstop about her day and how much she liked her teacher much better than she thought she was going to. Cooper was beyond quiet. He did say he had a good day and the only other thing I could get out of him was "recess was awesome". I also found out that he didn't go to the bathroom all day long because of The Belt Situation. I was very upset about that and cried to the Captain when he got home. I am now on the lookout for a pediatric urologist who will put in a catheter. Or an organ transplant surgeon who can operate on him when his kidneys fail. Or a psyciatrist for me new belt. Stay tuned ...

Make today a great one people and cheer for the USA!!!

Back to School

It's back to school today. I think the kids are excited. I always get a little emotional on the first day of school. It just proves that they are growing up and getting bigger. How time flies and how my babies grow. They are looking forward to being in the same building this year. This year will be a huge adjustment for Cooper. It's the real deal now. I hope they do ok today. They have had a most relaxing summer, and with the exception of VBS, volleyball camp and swimming lessons, they did NOTHING. Good for them. They went to bed ok last night and fell asleep quickly. Waking them up this morning will definitely be another story.

Did anybody stay up late to watch the men's 4x100 swimming relay? If you didn't, you missed an amazing comeback performance where they won the gold. It was soooo exciting! Lezak, the guy who swam the last leg, was almost a full body length behind the leader. And then just pulled ahead. The French team had been giving us a little lip all week about "smashing the Americans". Well, not only did we smash those mouthing monsieurs, we smashed the world record too. Very, very cool.

Speaking of cool, you know how I love those folks at Google. This was yesterday's and today's tribute to the Olympics.

Poor Bloggie Doggie. Cooper said he was "Little Red Robbing Hood".

Take an apple to your teacher people.

Let the games begin!

I hope you caught at least part of the Opening Ceremonies last night. Some of it was just amazing. It seems like some years the ceremonies are a bit weird or hard to follow, but last night was really spectacular. Here are some of our favorite parts.

Cooper loved the drum part. He came back in the den dressed in black and, utilizing our kitchen stools, treated us to our own drum performance. Jordan dolled herself up in scarves and make up and was a regular geisha girl I tell you. Those kids have an amazing imagination. I love watching them come up with this stuff.

Cooper doesn't grasp what the whole Olympic thing is all about. I guess he was only 2 during the last Olympics. He keeps asking if it's like the "Disney Channel Games" or more like "I Survived a Japanese Game Show". Ummmm, neither.

Ready to tune in to the sporting events today. It looks like there will be something on at any given point during the day or evening! HOORAY!

Look what I saw when I went to Google this morning.

Are you telling me that those neato creative folks at Google are going to have a new Olympic themed masthead EVERY DAY OF THE OLYMPICS!?!?! Oh be still my heart. I can't wait to see.

Ain't too proud to beg. The Bloggie Doggie is hoping that the Bottomless Pit will drop a waffle on the floor.

Off to do the Saturday crossword, a little laundry and some other housework. Then going to cheer on the USA!!
Catch the Olympic spirit people!

Flashback Friday

The staff at Me and My Good Life are excited to announce a new feature on the blog. Friday will now be "Flashback Friday" and will feature a photo of the Bloggie Doggie from his puppy years. It was actually the Bloggie Doggie's idea. Perhaps he was tired of the papparazi (puppyrazi?! Ha Ha! I crack myself up) and suggested digging back in the ol' archives. Anyhoo, here is the first installment of Flashback Friday....

Awwwww - Washn't he the cutisht thing you've ever sheen?

Today is a neato day. It's 8-8-08! How cool is that! Today is also the opening ceremonies of the Olympics! Let the games begin! Showing the Olympic spirit are those uber creative folks at Google. I heart those guys I tell you.

For the first time in over a month, I'm proud to say I have no Favre report. The only slightly related story is that the Jets cut Chad Pennington, but we all saw that coming anyway either with or without Favre probably. It's still not right. Brett Favre is a Packer. And it will be hard to see him in green and white instead of green and yellow. I wish it had ended differently. I'm at least glad it ended. Does it matter that he's still number 4? It's all just wrong.

And in the Funny How Kids' Brains Work department, I share this little tale: Jordan has an old laptop that only runs some games and Microsoft Word. On her list of things to do she had "Can you put the internet on a disk and run it? Ask Daddy."

Let's talk exercise. I completed the last day of Week 2 of the Push Up Challenge. I think I have to go retest before moving to Week 3. It is getting harder and harder. I did another In Shape show this morning. I've been doing those 3 or 4 days a week and am really loving them. Today was tai chi and kick boxing. The tai chi was a little odd. There wasn't a lot of stretching, but lots of breathing and "pushing the negative energy out of our body" whatever that means. The kick boxing was tough. I even worked up a little sweat. I looked like Rocky Balboa I tell you. You should have seen me with my upper cuts and jabs and weaves. You would have laughed your head off been very impressed.

TGIF people.
