Brett. Crock. Crazy.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday.

First of all, I was recovering from spending fifteen of my waking hours at the volleyball tournament.

And, hanging out with Brett Favre.

And by hanging out, I mean sitting in the same 150,000 square foot convention center as him and being very interested in the match he was watching.  He was there watching his daughter.   He's tall.  I don't think he had on Wranglers.  And, I will reassure you that he is aging very nicely.

Yesteray, I was also busy turning another year older.

Can't believe I'm finally 40.

BAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm super excited about my gift from the Captain and the kids.

It's... A NEW CROCKPOT.

Most women would smack their husbands in the face and walk out if they got a crock pot for their birthday, but I clapped my hands with glee and wiped tears of joy from my eyes.

It's a super duper crock pot.  The Cadillac of all crock pots.

I'm really excited about it.

We spent the evening last night at Coop's basketball game. It was a loss for the Lions.  Coop had a good game with four steals. I was proud of him.  I was also proud of myself for not smacking any of the opposing team's parents who were beyond obnoxious.  But, I figured it would ruin my birthday if I started slugging these rude folks.   Especially the dad who was losing his ever loving mind over a missed double dribble call - when his son's team was up by 20 points with :15 second left.  Simmer down, Mister.

That sums it up.

Good times.

It's cold. And hot.

We've got our eye to the sky.

Because tonight & tomorrow may be Ice, Ice Baby.

(If that made you start singing a little Vanilla Ice, please raise your hand...)

The Ice Storm cometh.

Maybe.

We have a tremendous track record of being "right on the line" which translates to being right on the stinking border of six inches of wintery stuff and three days of cold rain.

And the weather folk tease us with their sweet words full of promises. They look right in the camera and say sweet nothings like snow, sleet, freezing rain. And sometimes they even go so far as to say that word that is very, very committal ... ACCUMULATION.

And sometimes it happens.

And sometimes it doesn't....Which is also known as "Build me up buttercup..."

And so here we are in yet another "wait and see" situation today and tonight.

Which means I will wake up every thirty minutes and go look out the window.

Then if we DON'T get any ice or snow, I am disappointed and tired and a big pot of cranky the next day. Bah.

But pay attention because here is where it gets exciting people....

I sent Jim Cantore a weather question tweet the other day....

As you know, he is one of my Top Five Celebrity Crushes

Let's take a look at him again for good weather measure. Want to?

Hubba.

Wait - what was I saying?

Oh yes - the weather tweet....

Anyway, I sent him a weather question tweet asking if Memphis would see any of this alleged winter weather....

AND HE TWEETED ME BACK.

Yes he did.

I GOT A TWEET FROM JIM CANTORE.

{clapping hands with glee}

He said, "@angie128 models trending south with ice potential so yes."

Which I'm sure actually means, "Thank you for being my biggest fan. Let's go to dinner the next time I'm in town."

Or maybe not.

Regardless, my day was complete.

And today may, or may not, be my 40-something-th birthday.

So if Jim Cantore and my other favorite Weather Guy want to give me a big ol' icy snow storm for my birthday, which would lead to a lovely three-day weekend filled with soup, Wii games, a good book, and some college hoops, who am I to say no?

Ice Ice Baby.

Word to your mother.

Back from whence they came

Everybody left yesterday. We all enjoyed a great weekend, but I think everybody is also very tired. The Bloggie Doggie can sum it all up for you.

My boyfriend was featured on the ESPN Sunday conversation yesterday. (I think the videos scroll on this one. You'll have to click thru them to find him. I say that like somebody else would really want to watch that....) He was also chosen to make his 9th appearance in the All Star Game. I heart him. The Yankees won in 10 last night. A-Rod hit his 536th career homer last night, tying Mickey Mantle for 13th career homers. He was also the top vote getter for the All Star Game. On his home front, however, his wife is also rumored to be filing for divorce today over all the Madonna Kabbalah stuff.

Beattles' drummer Ringo Starr turns 68 today. If I knew this, I had forgotten, but he's married to Barbara Bach who was a Bond Girl in "The Spy Who Loved Me."

I knocked out my Fit Yum Mum this morning. The intervals were a bit rough, but I managed. Better get a move on because Jodi and I have the 5k this Saturday.

Happy Monday!

Fit Yummy Mummy

I'm working on a new exercise program that Connie found for me. It's a combination of exercises (called resistance training) and cardio (called intervals). There are a few options you can have when you set up the schedule. You can either do your resistance training and intervals at the same time and have a rest day between each workout day (working out three TIMES a week). Or you can do your resistance training in the morning and your intervals at night; again having a rest day between each (working out three DAYS a week). Or you can do your resistance training one day and your intervals the next day, allowing one day of rest for the week (working out six DAYS a week). I think I'm going to do a spinoff combination of the first and the last options. Because I still need to have a day or two of just running - not intervals. Just a 2 or 3 mile run. And if I go for the St. Jude Half in December, I'll have to add some longer weekend runs too. Not time yet to think about that though.

The premise of the intervals is brief, high intensity periods of exercise (i.e. walking, biking, running AS FAST AS YOU CAN) alternated with active recovery periods where you slow down just enough to catch your breath. The intervals are really only meant to last about 15 minutes.

I think it will work nicely for me and, in the end, will help my goal of shaving some time off my pace so I can focus on some decent short run times and give it a good shot at some 5k races.

Oh, I didn't tell you what the program is called. It's called (are you ready for this?) Fit Yummy Mummy. Apparently 'yummy mummy' is a slang term (maybe British?) for attractive older woman/mother. Hmmmmmm. Kind of stupid, but if it works.......

Soooo, we'll see how all this goes.

Today is National Fried Okra Day. I wish I were celebrating this national holiday at Mom's.....

Happy Birthday today to Carly Simon who turns 63. I still wish to this day that she had stayed married to James Taylor. What musical genes their kids have. Wow. I love both of them. I think they are both just so incredibly gifted. I think I'll listen to one of their CDs on my way to work today.

And for the Doggie Picture of the Day, here is Gauge doing one of his favorite things - looking out the front door.

I guess at 11 years old, I would have watched Shaun Cassidy if he had been in a movie....

"Camp Rock", featuring those adorable Jonas Brothers, debuted Friday night to 8.9 million total viewers. It was the Disney Channel's second most watched original movie ever, behind "High School Musical 2". The second airing Saturday night on ABC pulled in 3.6 million viewers, while a third airing Sunday on ABC Family averaged 3.7 million viewers, all according to Nielsen.

And yes, Jordan watched it all three times.....and has the soundtrack downloaded to her iPod....and is *certain* that one day she will meet the Jonas Brothers....and signs her email to her friends "Mrs. Nick Jonas"....

Lest we forget.....Da Doo Ron Ron.....

Oh Baby!

Interesting little story on msnbc.com last week about celebrity baby photos and how much magazines are paying these stars for letting them put the first glimpse of the star baby on their cover. People are just obsessed with seeing the little celebrity darlings and will shuck out some cash to buy a magazine that has the photo on it. The article talks about Lucille Ball and her baby, Desi Arnaz Jr., being one of the first babies on a magazine cover. It was actually the first issue of TV Guide.

They are saying that a picture of the Pitt-Jolie twins could go for as much as $15 million. $15 million?!? For a BABY PICTURE?!? What would $15 million buy? According to this related story, here are just a few ways you could spend your money:

  • 5,016,722 Big Macs
  • 3,713,790 gallons of gas
  • 12,500 37" flat screen LCD TV's
  • 75,000 iPhones
  • 882 brand new Honda Civics
  • 1,153,846 packs of Pampers diapers
