So, guess who is celebrating a birthday today??!!

Yes, the Bloggie Doggie!!!!

And, yes, we got him a birthday cake!

Yes, at the doggie bakery.

Yes, I'm serious.

He's excited.

Extra wagging today.

BOW WOW!!

It's going on

Last college football game tonight.

Can't even stand it.

What on earth is a girl to do when it's over?

NFL playoffs will help me.

Has anyone else not even noticed there hasn't been any hockey?

OK.

Kids have one more day off before heading back to school tomorrow.

There remains some lazy crazy stuff going on here while I'm at work.

Like on Friday when I came home for lunch, I discovered Gauge had been eating pancakes.

Then, when I came home that evening, both kids were still in their jammies and watching TV in my bed.

And, Gauge met me at the back door with a bag of chips in his mouth.

Alrighty then.

Other than that, things are great.

Hot. Dogs. And Sharpie Eyebrows.

Well, let's see.  What happened this weekend?
Our air conditioner went out Friday afternoon.  It was hot.  But we slept upstairs on the most uncomfortable guest bed ever in the history of guest beds.  And then Mr. Air Conditioner Repair Man came on Saturday and replaced something and then it got cool again. And all the people said amen.

There was also a little incident involving Jordan, a friend-boy, and two mean barking growly stray dogs who surrounded the friend-boy's truck and wouldn't go away.  Jordan couldn't get in the house, so the Captain had to go out there and rescue her.  Armed with a golf club.

Oh, and then Jordan drew eyebrows on the dog with a Sharpie marker...

"Nobody knows...the trouble I've seen...."

And then the weekend was over.

The end.

bow wow

Big happenings over the weekend...
Gauge got his own Twitter.

Yes, I know...

When he gets a new follower, it makes his tail wag.

Check him out @gaugedog

The Captain can't believe people are actually following a dog.

Funny that he has no problem with the fact that the dog is actually tweeting.

Think he likes the frisbee that Santa brought him?

Say Cheese. Or Bow Wow.

What do you get when you add:
A boy
A dog
A hat
A camera phone
and
A bed that's not made (don't judge).

Life. It's good.

My two boys.

Watching baseball.

Look at their legs and feet.

Love that.

Do NOT look at the toy wrestling ring, Nerf gun and Wii games all piled up in the chair back there.

Don't judge.

And what is that at the bottom of the picture?

{panning out}

It's the Bloggie Doggie!

Hello Bloggie Doggie!

Guess he wasn't too interested in the baseball game.

Have a happy day people. Play nice.

Green.

Top o' the mornin' to ya!

I am sporting a green scarf. That's about as Irish as I'm gonna' get today.

And tonight we will have corned beef and cabbage which is going to be cleverly disguised as roast and potatoes.

March Madness kicks into full gear today. That brings me much joy.

Happy St. Patrick's Day from the Bloggie O' Doggie!

Have a good day people. Wag more. Bark less.

Mr. Quackers

The Bloggie Doggie has a toy that he loves.

Mr. Quackers.

Here is a picture of a brand new Mr. Quackers.

This was the first Mr. Quackers that the Bloggie Doggie got as a puppy.

Look how sweet and little the Bloggie Doggie is.

And look how....intact....and....colorful.....Mr. Quackers is.

And somebody must have been sick when I took this picture, because that's the only time I put sheets on my couch.

Anyway, behold the cuteness.

Fast forward a few years.

And lotsa' lovin'.

This is what Mr. Quackers looks like now...

He has no beak.
He has no head.
He has no wings.
He has no feet.

Maybe Santa can bring the Bloggie Doggie a new Mr. Quackers for Christmas. I need to put in a good word.

Speaking of Christmas.....How's your holiday to-do list coming along?

I have TWO MORE GIFTS TO BUY, PEOPLE!

Yahoo.

And amen.

Nappy

Apparently the Bloggie Doggie settled down for a long winter's nap.

When I left for work, my bed was perfectly made.

When I got home, it looked like this.

Looks like he made a little nest, got all snuggled down and took a little siesta.

And yes, that's a Winnie the Pooh pillowcase.

Don't judge.

The Bloggie Doggie watches TV while we are at work.

The Captain insists he watch hunting shows on Outdoor Channel.

I contend that he enjoys Sports Center and the occasional Law and Order.

And the Game Show Network - he loves that too.

(I once had a small addiction to the Game Show Network. I did seek intervention when I realized I had developed a crush on Chuck Woolery.)

And......Today is December 8.

If anybody else is slightly freaked out by that, please raise your hand.

Alrighty, go forth and have a nice day.

An afternoon PET-icure

Here is the Bloggie Doggie...

Looks like Jordan was very busy after school studying for a Science test and doing algebra problems painting the dogs toenails.

A nice pink on the front "hands"...

And a lovely green on the back "feet"....

To be honest, I'm a little impressed with how well she did this.

Polish perfectly applied. And no polishy paw prints on the floor.

Should she consider vet school? Beauty school?

And I still have no idea how the Bloggie Doggie sat still long enough for this to happen.

But it seems like he did wag around last night a little more proudly than normal.

The Captain? Slightly put out about it....

Wake Up!

Seen recently at mi casa...

I call this one "The Bloggie Doggie Waiting for Cooper to Wake Up"

For those of you who are easily confused, the Bloggie Doggie is the real dog on the right.

Not the stuffed big yellow dog on the left.

The big yellow dog on the left is appropriately named Big Yellow Dog.

And I'm sure that orange rug with the big ol' T on it has not gone unnoticed.

I can thank Connie and Bingmama for all that nonsense....

In other news, today is the first official day of fall. And the high will be 98. Ri. Dic. U. Lous.

I'm off to send hate mail to The Weatherman.

Scenes

Some scenes from my house...

Be amazed people at my excellent photography skills....

I call this one "A Nerf Sword and 11 Yellow and White Alternating Golf Balls"...

And this one, named appropriately "Bliss"...

And finally, this is called "Bloggie Doggie with his Favorite Duck and Please Ignore the Guitar, Football and Remote Control Truck in the Background Because It's Summer and My House Is a Wreck"

Have a super duper weekend people!

Sometimes you feel like a nut

See Gauge.
See Gauge sit.
See Gauge sit behind the Captain's chair.
See Gauge sit and give the appearance of quiet and domesticated obedience.

See Gauge hold something in his mouth.
See Gauge hold something in his mouth that does not resemble a chew toy or tennis ball.

See Gauge strike a pose.
See Gauge show his best "You can't see me" face.
See Gauge holding an empty Almond Joy bag which he allegedly absconded from Jordan's room.

Where's the remote?

The Bloggie Doggie likes to lay on our bed and watch TV during the day while we are away at work and school.

We leave the TV on for him.

Because we're just like that. Don't judge.

The Captain insists he wants to watch duck hunting shows on the Outdoor Channel.

I usually leave it on a Law & Order marathon.

The kids opt for some sort of Disney Channel show for his viewing pleasure.

Last night I told the Captain that the Bloggie Doggie wanted to watch the Olympics during the day.

My suggestion was met with a slight "hummmph".

Captain: "These are not the doggie Olympics."

Me: "But he likes to watch hockey, and curling, and the moguls!!"

Captain: "Hummph."

Me: "He can watch those hunting shows any time. These are the Olympics!! They only come around once every 28 years!!"

Captain: "Ummm it's every 4 years."

Me: "Not in dog years. He's been waiting 28 years for the Olympics to roll around again."

Captain: "Hummmph."

It's cold. And hot.

We've got our eye to the sky.

Because tonight & tomorrow may be Ice, Ice Baby.

(If that made you start singing a little Vanilla Ice, please raise your hand...)

The Ice Storm cometh.

Maybe.

We have a tremendous track record of being "right on the line" which translates to being right on the stinking border of six inches of wintery stuff and three days of cold rain.

And the weather folk tease us with their sweet words full of promises. They look right in the camera and say sweet nothings like snow, sleet, freezing rain. And sometimes they even go so far as to say that word that is very, very committal ... ACCUMULATION.

And sometimes it happens.

And sometimes it doesn't....Which is also known as "Build me up buttercup..."

And so here we are in yet another "wait and see" situation today and tonight.

Which means I will wake up every thirty minutes and go look out the window.

Then if we DON'T get any ice or snow, I am disappointed and tired and a big pot of cranky the next day. Bah.

But pay attention because here is where it gets exciting people....

I sent Jim Cantore a weather question tweet the other day....

As you know, he is one of my Top Five Celebrity Crushes

Let's take a look at him again for good weather measure. Want to?

Hubba.

Wait - what was I saying?

Oh yes - the weather tweet....

Anyway, I sent him a weather question tweet asking if Memphis would see any of this alleged winter weather....

AND HE TWEETED ME BACK.

Yes he did.

I GOT A TWEET FROM JIM CANTORE.

{clapping hands with glee}

He said, "@angie128 models trending south with ice potential so yes."

Which I'm sure actually means, "Thank you for being my biggest fan. Let's go to dinner the next time I'm in town."

Or maybe not.

Regardless, my day was complete.

And today may, or may not, be my 40-something-th birthday.

So if Jim Cantore and my other favorite Weather Guy want to give me a big ol' icy snow storm for my birthday, which would lead to a lovely three-day weekend filled with soup, Wii games, a good book, and some college hoops, who am I to say no?

Ice Ice Baby.

Word to your mother.

Ummmm, I think he likes it

Did everybody have a great Christmas?

We did....And now, alas, it is over. My tree and all my decorations are all packed up. And have been since Saturday. Bah.

And today I go back to work. For the first time in 10+ days. Bah again.

Everybody has enjoyed playing with all their new goodies.

Especially the Bloggie Doggie.

Who got a new Frisbee.

See?

He has not put it down. Seriously. Since Christmas Eve.

He likes to carry it around and look through it...

Or carry another toy with it...
(Please ignore me and Cooper in this picture. We were playing with Cooper's Nintendo DS. And maybe I still had on my pajamas at 4pm and maybe I didn't...)

Sometimes he just sits and holds it while he watches a football game....

He's even been taking it to bed with him....

Yep, I'd say he likes it.

Have a good day doing whatever it is you are doing today people.

A funny thing happened while we were at the theatre

My bestie Bingmama and I are season subscribers to the theatre. Doesn't that sound impressive? So every few months, when a new show comes to town, we're off for our girls night.

That night happened to be Tuesday. And the show happened to be Wizard of Oz.

Now, I've got nothing against Wizard of Oz. But if it were not part of our little package thing, I probably wouldn't go see it. Cause, I've seen it. Fifty thousand tmies. But nonetheless, it was part of our package. So off we went. And we both were thinking it would be a pretty predictable night.

Boy were we wrong.

Because while we were there....

.... a drunk man got into a fight with another guy seated near him who had told him repeatedly to be quiet. (Yes, there was a DRUNK guy getting in a FIGHT at WIZARD OF OZ.) Mr. Drunk Dude was then shown the door by Big Bouncer Theatre Security Man. However, he wasn't leaving without a little show of his own. And he was M-A-D people. Mr. D.D. proceeded to cuss a blue streak. Actually, what's worse than a blue streak? Cause that's what he did. Loud. Bad Words. Bad, bad, bad words. Not that there is a scale for cuss words. Cause a cuss word is a cuss word. But this guy used the biggest and baddest cuss words around. And I think even threw in a few that I had never heard before. Seriously people. This is the WIZARD OF OZ. And Dude gets kicked out. Of the fancy theatre. All this happened right about the time the Cowardly Lion joined Dorothy and the others to head to Oz. So they were off to see the Wizard. And Mr. Drunk Dude was off to kick somebody's something or other.

.... the couple sitting beside me were eating Skittles and making out. Again, this is the WIZARD OF OZ. It was totally bizarre.

.... dude at the end of our row had on Carhartt overalls. I've got nothing against Carhartt overalls. Or even overalls in general. But I think they have their place. Like on a farm. Did I mention this is a very nice, beautiful, historic, theatre? Overalls. Oh - and a ball cap.

.... the old man that was sitting about three rows in front of us began to pick up a two-way radio through his hearing aids. So he had a convo between two women coming out of his head.

.... the little girl in front of us apparently had a little tummy ache and kept getting up and down to go to the bathroom. But her quite large daddy wouldn't get up so they could get out and they had to crawl over. And I was very worried there for a second that little girl was going to puke all over Row M Seat 201.

.... Oh and there was a service dog. Who appeared to be very sweet. And big. And old. And the woman appeared to be able to see. And hear. So I'm not sure what his service was. But he did have on one of those official service dog vesty things so I'm sure he was legit. However, remember there was also a real live little puppy dog named Dusty playing Toto. So I did have to wonder if the big service dog was just PRETENDING to be a service dog so he could get in to see Toto (aka Dusty). And it also made me wonder how many times there have been TWO real live dogs in the theatre.

When I got home and was telling the Captain and the Bloggie Doggie all about my exciting adventure, the Bloggie Doggie decided that HE would like to audition for the part of Toto. I told him that he's big and white. And Toto is small and black. But he felt like could wear a costume and pull that off. But I'm not sure how he'd fit in that basket. He is, however, very excited about the opportunity to audition and he won't quit talking about it. See? Here's his headshot.

Actually I guess that's just a shot of his head...

OK, this post has gone south fast and it's long and you're probably not even reading anymore. so I'm off.

Not to see the Wizard.

I'm off to work.

But tomorrow, I'm OFF WORK.

Until after Christmas.

And that is excellent.

Because we all know....

There's no place like home.

Sorry, couldn't resist that.

Peace out people.
