Five shows I used to watch growing up

Happy Days
First show of the afternoon. It came on at 3:30 right when we got home from school. And yes, I had a crush on Potsie.

Brady Bunch
Oh how I wanted to live in the Brady house. The girls' room. That family room. Mike's den. Wow. And Marcia's clothes. The bomb. And I've never figured out why all six kids had to share one bathroom.

Charlie's Angels
OK what girl didn't want to grow up to be an Angel? And Farrah's hair. I longed for the perfect feathers. Be still my hot rolling heart. I blogged about the show awhile back. Wanna' read it again?

Land of the Lost
Remember this one? Marshall, Will and Holly...on a routine expedition... Sing along people.

Little House on the Prarie
What a good show. Except I always wanted to smack that Nellie Olesen.

Take Five

OK people. I'm outta' here tomorrow on vaca! {cue applause and angelic singing and hallelujah chorus} We are going on our annual big family trip to the beach. And in a word: I can't wait. Well, that was three words. But seriously I'm soooooooo ready to go.

I know panic just set in with you people because I know you are worried about your daily dose of Me and My Good Life. Never fear. Dry your eyes people and rest easy. The wonderful thing called "auto post" will take care of that. So there will be a brand new post each and every day while I'm gone. You're welcome.

Five Things I'm Going To Do On Vacation

1. Read -- I'm taking six books. That's a bit ambitious, but we'll see how it goes. Hope I can plow through most of them.

2. Sleep -- I want to sleep in (i.e. later than 4am)

3. Absolutely nothing -- Seriously. Just NOTHING.

4. Enjoy my time with the family -- This will include lots of eating and laughing and playing some games.

5. Crossword puzzles -- Lots and lots of them. Bliss.

Y'all play nice while I'm gone. See you later!

I'M OUTTA' HERE!

Five Things You Might Hear Me Say 382,294 times a day

Let me get this straight.
I typically say this right before I am about to hop on my soapbox and rant about something that I don't agree with, something that I think is complete lunacy, or something I just cannot believe. Hypothetically, if I were to send an editorial to our local paper, I would begin it with this lovely phrase. (If I *were* to send a letter to the editor that is...Hypothetically of course....) This phrase is usually nicely coupled with "So what you're saying is....".

e.g. Let me get this straight, you think Target doesn't provide adequate retail therapy?! So what you're saying is, you think Target is not the answer to all problems?

Just sayin'.
This little phrase is almost like a period for some of my sentences. I always say this at the END of something that I have a pretty strong feeling about or to just further prove my point. Like I'm still kind of talking about something even though I should be kind of finished talking about something. But I have to put that last little phrase there. Almost like I'm underlining what I just said.

e.g. Target is the greatest store ever. Just sayin'.

Seriously.
Oh the versatility of this word. It can been used as a question AND a statement. I do feel that it is much more powerful as a statement. When it is a statement, it's almost like a threat. This little multi-purpose word can also stand alone. I think this is my favorite word right now.

e.g. (question) It's going to be 95 degrees today? Seriously?!
e.g. (statement) Target is the greatest store ever. Seriously.
e.g. (statement or threat) Pick up that wet towel right now. Seriously.
e.g. (stand alone) Seriously.

Did you brush your teeth?
Um, yeah, I say this to Cooper every single morning and every single night. Jordan, not so much anymore. But it's a never ending battle with the 7 year old boy. He will swear that he brushed his teeth. That's funny....the sink is dry and I can't even FIND his toothbrush. He also thinks if he just sticks a wet toothbrush in his mouth that he has adequately brushed. Sorry kid. Gotta' use the toothpaste. And the brush must actually TOUCH your teeth. Yes, that's why they call it a tooth-brush. Action is required.*sigh*. No example really needed for this one, but here it is anyway:

e.g. Did you brush your teeth?

What does Gauge have in his mouth?
Sweet mercy people. This is a constant little game he plays. The MAMGL blog has featured these canine antics many times. Here's a highlight. Again, this phrase kind of speaks for itself and requires no back up example. But I believe in consistency, so here is the example:

e.g. What does Gauge have in his mouth?

So people, I hope you have a good day. Seriously. Just sayin'.

Five Foods I Will Not Eat

Mushrooms -- I think this is really a consistency issue with me. But regardless, major yuck and no thank you.

Lima Beans -- Ick. The end.

Anything that ends in "ese" -- Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese....This is actually a food group rather than a food, but it's my blog, so whatever. I had a horrible run-in with some Chinese food when I was in college. It still haunts me to this day.

Iced Tea -- OK, so this is a drink, not a food. Again, my blog. And I know, I know. What kind of true southern girl can I be if I don't like iced tea. Well, I don't. I can't even stand the smell of it. So just water or coffee for me ok? Thanks.

Hard Boiled Eggs -- I like eggs cooked all different ways. Except hard boiled. I especially can't stand the yellow yolky part. And you know how sometimes the yolk cooks so long it looks like a gray bouncy ball? That totally makes me gag.

Anything you really don't want to see on your plate?

Five TV Shows I Love

Law & Order -- I'll take any of the Law & Order shows, but my fave is Law & Order: SVU only because I love Elliot Stabler. No, really. I love him. And there is always a Law & Order on TV at any given time.

ESPN Sports Center -- I will watch this in the morning, even though it is actually the rerun from the night before. Love me some Sports Center.

Dirty Jobs -- There are times when I watch this show that I realize my face is literally scrunched up because whatever they are doing is just so disgusting. But I totally dig Mike Rowe and his dry sense of humor.

I Love Lucy -- This is my all-time favorite show ever ever ever. I will watch this show over and over and laugh like I've never seen it. For Christmas two years ago, my MIL gave me the complete series on DVD. The. Complete. Series. That's 9 seasons. 194 episodes. On 34 DVDs. I cried people. I have passed my love for this show on to my kids. They, too, are now able to say they have watched every single I Love Lucy episode. I am so proud of those kids. *sniff* I love to hear them laugh while they watch those. Anyway, I Love Lucy = good stuff.

Any sporting event (except hockey or golf) -- OK, I know this really isn't a "show", but it's my blog so I can write about whatever I want to. But truth be told, I don't watch much TV to begin with. And I usually watch sports. I love to watch sports. Especially college football and college basketball. I love to watch SEC football (especially the Arkansas Razorbacks!) and Memphis Tigers basketball. And of course, my boyfriend and favorite New York Yankee, Derek Jeter.

What's showing on your tube? Ready? GO!

Five Places I Want To Be

Home -- Absolutely my favorite place in the world to be. As I get older, I am becoming more and more of a homebody. I am fairly certain that one day this may lead to that illness where you have a phobia of leaving your house.

Walt Disney World -- The only place in the world where there is no reality. I guess have been about five times in my life. Two of those times have been in the last few years with the Captain and my kids (once with my MIL and once with Connie & Crew) It's just pure bliss there people. No reality. It rocks.

Heaven -- Because then I could see my Daddy.

Target -- I am at this place at least once a week. At least. It is like therapy for me. Just pushing my red buggy up and down the aisles. I figure it costs about the same as it would if I were going to professional counseling. About $75 an hour. I heart that place. Heaven on earth.

Orange Beach, Alabama -- There really are not enough words about how much I love this place. We have gone down there for years and years. Waaayyyy before Connie or I were married. And now, as our kids have come along, we have gone almost every year (and stayed in the same beach house complex). We didn't go the year I was pregnant with Cooper, the year of the Hurricane, or last year when we went to Disney. Talk about a restful vacation. Wanna' know what we do when we go down there? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. We practically live in our bathing suits. And enjoy the sun, sand, and water. And enjoy being together. We rest and refuel. And just exist. It's wonderful. Truly a very special place to us.

What about you? Where do you want to be?
